Cypher Kids Club Interactive Cards!

I'm always trying to find fun ways for my boys to learn. Whether it be through board games or apps that I can utilize on my iPad and iPhone. It's a hard balance with technology. I don't want them to rely completely on these devices for learning and entertainment, so I definitely have to set time limits. I had the chance to try out the new Cypher Kids Club Augmented Reality Cards and I knew my five year old would love them!



Cypher Kids Interactive Cards - Numbers


Each flashcard has the number on the front and then a QR code on the back. To read the QR code, you need to download the Cypher Kids app from iTunes and have an Apple device that has a camera. The great thing is that the app is FREE! We have quite a few different Apple devices that we could have used like an iPad or iPhone. But, to make the images larger, we decided on the iPad.

My son is in his second year of preschool but still has some difficulty recognizing numbers. He's doing great at counting so I was hoping that the number cards will help him with identification. We started out with number one. He wanted to randomly choose cards but I wanted him to "earn" each card! He did really well with the mubers one through ten. The cards go up to twenty and he started having a little more difficulty with the higher numbers. The images and sounds really kept his attention.

The correct number must be chosen on the home screen to correspond with each card. If the card does not match what you have chosen, then the QR code will not scan. Each card has cute little characters and songs to help with learning the numbers.

The best way to scan the card and view the 3D image is to give some distance between the camera and the card. When you do this the effects are much clearer. You can even take the card and turn it sideways. This will show you different angles of the number and the graphics.

Shipping is FREE and you will receive them in just a few days. These cards would make great last minute Christmas presents for pre-schoolers. Even my eight year old was having a blast with them! Wonder Forge Game Review: Joker Fun House & Jake And The Never Land Pirates!

My boys love games! I'm always trying to get them engaged in things other than video games or television and trying to keep them active. Some video games or technology time is fine with me. Especially if they are learning while having fun.

And of course, being boys they love their Super Heroes! We were given a game called Joker Fun House from Wonder Forge that my boys had a blast with! It included all of their favorite characters like The Joker, Batman and Superman. Each player has a special super power that can help them get through the game. But, they need to watch out because the Joker will try and take them out with a ball that he can roll across the game board. If they get knocked over, they go back to start. I played the first game with them to make sure they understood the instruction. They picked up on everything pretty quickly and played quite a few more games on their own. It was nice because mom and dad got about an hour of peace and quiet!

The second game that we received was called Jake and the Never Land Pirates Never Land Challenge. This game really got them up and moving! It was so funny watching my boys tucking the "cannonball" under their chin and shimmying underneath the vines! Don't forget about the gold Doublooms! This particular game is definitely for preschoolers. It was a tight fit under the vines for my 5 year old and virtually impossible for my 8 year old. But, we made do and just raised them off of the ground a little bit.

Both of these games were unlike any other board games my boys have. I was really impressed with quality and the entertainment value. These games have been played with quite a few times since we received them. They are at the top of our game pile.

Review: LongHorn Steakhouse is Coming To Arizona!

I've heard of LongHorn Steakhouse but I've never tried it...until last Thursday! I was invited to a preview of the new restaurant that is opening Tuesday December 11th at 11am! It is located in Mesa outside of Fiesta Mall.

When I walked in, the first thing that caught my eye was the decor. It reminded me of a fancy hunting lodge that you would see on television. I took my sister with me and we were greeted by staff that was very friendly.

Wild West Shrimp

After we were escorted to our seats, our server brought out some yummy appetizers. The Wild West Shrimp and Grilled White Cheddar Stuffed Mushrooms. They were both amazing! Mushrooms and shrimp are two of my favorite foods, next to bacon.



For our main course we received...3 main courses. That was a huge surprise. LongHorn wanted to make sure that we had the chance to try the 3 most popular menu items.



Flo's Fillet

 ·         Flo’s Fillet – The fillet was so tender you could cut it with your fork.









LongHorn Salmon

 ·         LongHorn Salmon – Hand-cut, fresh Atlantic Salmon is marinated in a bourbon marinade. I'm pretty picky about salmon but this salmon was cooked perfectly and had great flavor.





·         Parmesan Crusted Chicken – Topped with a cheesy, crunchy Parmesan and garlic cheese crust. The chicken was very moist and flavorful!

To top the whole meal off we had the LongHorn Dessert Sampler: Chocolate Stampede, Caramel Apple Goldrush and Mountain Top Cheesecake. My favorite was the Chocolate Stampede! You can't go wrong with chocolate.

While we were enjoying our desserts, an unexpected treat was being entertained by country music artist David Nail. It was a great ending to a great night!



LongHorn will hopefully be opening more locations in Arizona soon. The general manager shared with us that they do all they can to support the local community. Whenever they have unused food in the kitchen, they donate it to a local food bank. I love that they don't just throw out perfectly good food!

I live about 30-40 minutes away from this LongHorn in Mesa. Would I drive that far for their steak? Yes. It was a fun casual environment with amazing food. I'm definitely hoping they open one in North Phoenix! (Hint, Hint)
