Review: Cirque du Soleil #Kooza

It has been years since I've been to the circus. I remember the clowns, acrobats and many stunts. Friday night I had the chance to attend Cirque du Soleil Kooza. I know Cirque du Soleil has been in Vegas for years but I never thought I would be able to attend one of their shows, in my own back yard.

The show has been pitched as a family friendly event. I'm not quite in agreement with that statement and I'll explain why. I brought my husband with me and I'm so glad my 7 and 4 year old sons were not in attendance. I cringed a few times when I thought about the many young children sitting around the audience.

A few examples of adult content...lewd and obscene hand gestures, a clown pantomiming the act of snorting cocaine and one performers costume that made her look almost nude. I could add more to this list but you get the idea.

Now with that said, I really enjoyed the music and stunts. Throughout the show, I was on the edge of my seat! Many things I expected were included in the show like tight rope walkers, amazing gymnasts and acrobatics. I would definitely refer to the show as a circus for grown ups!

There is still plenty of time to catch the show, here in Phoenix. You can go HERE to purchase tickets and check out pricing. The show was held under the Grand Chapiteau (big tent). Don't worry about the Phoenix heat, it was nice and cool inside. Our seats were located right in the middle but because it was such an intimate setting, I'm not sure there would be a bad seat in the house. Just a heads up to bring money parking, they charged $10.

Disclosure: I was given 2 free tickets to attend Cirque du Soleil Kooza. All opinions in this post are 100% mine.

Good review, especially from you, a mother of young children point of view.
